Everton have joined Brighton & Hove Albion in the race to sign Cardiff City hotshot Kenneth Zohore, according to ESPN.
The Premier League newcomers have been desperate to add to their strike force in the final couple of days of the transfer window, but it looks as though they are going to face competition for the Dane.
Brighton thought they had achieved their aim of strengthening up front when they agreed a deal with FC Zurich for Raphael Dwamena, but he ultimately failed a medical which scuppered that move.
They have since turned their sights to the Cardiff man as they seek a man who can provide their first goal as a Premier League club.
Everton have a vacancy up front in their team after the summer departure of Romelu Lukaku, and they took are believed to be looking at the Welsh outfit for their replacement.
The Toffees have been linked with a number of men for the central striker position in this transfer window. Raul Jimenez, Diego Costa and Jamie Vardy have all been attributed with a possible move to Goodison Park, but those rumours have gone quiet in recent times.
That has led to Ronald Koeman monitoring the situation with Zohore, although he was rebuffed in a first enquiry over the Danish star, according to BBC Sport.
One reason for that is because Cardiff are especially unlikely to want to sell their star man while they are top of the Championship.
Zohore has been a revelation at the Cardiff City Stadium since his arrival. Last season he netted 12 times in 30 appearances for the Welsh side, and he is already off the mark for the current campaign.
Everton fans will hope that a new number nine arrives at Goodison Park before the transfer window closes, with a late scramble for firepower at the Merseyside outfit.
