Tottenham Hotspur were one of a number of top European clubs to have a summer approach for rising Rennes sensation Eduardo Camavinga rejected, according to L’Equipe.
Spurs had a busy transfer window, with the likes of Jack Clarke, Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso all joining the North London outfit.
Tottenham fans will hope the injection of young exciting players can take Mauricio Pochettino’s side to the next level, especially after the Lilywhites were beaten in the Champions League final in 2018-19.
Reported Spurs target Camavinga has broken into the Rennes side, despite only being 16, and played a starring role as his team beat Paris Saint-Germain last weekend.
The central midfielder is being talked up as a potential future world star, with the teenager’s abilities so impressive given his young age.
Tottenham have plenty of options in the heart of their midfield after Ndombele’s acquisition, with the likes of Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Eric Dier and Oliver Skipp all fighting for a starting berth.
However, with Victor Wanyama set to leave Spurs before the European transfer window closes, adding someone like Camavinga could have been an ideal replacement.
Pochettino has an exemplar record of working alongside young players and the Tottenham fans will hope that the club go back in for the French prodigy in the future.
