Glasgow Celtic are keen to sign Dinamo Zagreb defender Amir Rrahmani this summer, according to a report published by DH.
Hoops manager Neil Lennon will be preparing for a few departures this summer and he will need to bolster his side this summer if he wishes to defend the domestic treble yet again next season.
Reported Celtic target Rrahmani is a versatile player who can operate as a centre-back and left-back and would be a good addition to the Hoops.
Another reason why the Bhoys should push to sign Rrahmani is because they need a quality defender who can provide good cover for Kieran Tierney.
While the Celtic youngster is one of the most talented young defenders in Europe, he is injury prone and tends to spend long periods on the sidelines.
The Hoops need to bring in quality cover and competition at the back, especially as Dedryck Boyata has also left Parkhead.
It is however understood that Belgian giants Standard Liege are also interested in his services and they could have an advantage in the race to sign him. If the Hoops want to sign the Kosovo international, they will have to significantly step up their efforts.
During recent years, Celtic have struggled to be competitive in the Champions League. While the same applies to Standard, they at least have been competitive and gone out of Europe’s Premier Club competition with their heads held high.
This is a factor behind why Rrahmani could prefer a move to Belgium over the Bhoys. Celtic must aim to also build a side which is capable of being competitive in the Champions League next season.
