Yaya Toure’s outspoken agent has stated that the veteran midfielder is yet to be offered a new contract by Manchester City and has other clubs chasing him.
The Ivory Coast international is free to leave the Premier League side this summer on a free transfer, but speculation in the press has indicated that Pep Guardiola’s men will offer him a 12-month deal to stay.
Toure had to work hard to convince the City coach of his value to the team and has been reinstated into the starting XI after a couple of months in the wilderness.
Dimitri Seluk has given an update on the African midfielder’s future, with no official contact from the Premier League side as yet – but other offers on the table.
“We have not heard anything,” Sky Sports quote the agent as saying.
“I read a lot of stories about a new City contract but I know nothing about this. The last time I spoke to anyone at City was in Monaco in March.
“We have many possibilities. Yaya already has offers from different clubs. They are very interesting offers.
“There are clubs who have already qualified for next season’s Champions League, but for Yaya, Manchester City is a very special club. He has given his heart to the club and he would find it difficult to leave City.”
Seluk’s comments in the press did not help Toure’s cause after Guardiola’s arrival and City will be keen to keep the agent’s revelations to a minimum.
The Etihad Stadium side are expected to be busy in this summer’s transfer window and as such it remains to be seen just what role the veteran midfielder will play in the team next season – if he is offered a contract extension.
