Scottish champions Celtic got their Europa League campaign off to a positive start on Thursday night when they drew 1-1 with Rennes over in France, and after the match many took to social media to highlight how important a key man is to them.
The Bhoys know they have been drawn in a very tough section, so every match is going to be competitive, and this opener certainly didn’t disappoint in that regard.
Celtic have made no secret of the fact that their aim this term is to make it through to the knockout stages of this competition, and with Champions League nemesis Cluj and Italian giants Lazio to come, they could not afford a slip up in France.
It looked as though the Bhoys could suffer the result they did not want when they fell behind in the first-half, after the home side converted a penalty seven minutes before the break.
The Glasgow giants showed plenty of character though, and Celtic ace Ryan Christie levelled the scoring on the hour, when he fired home from the spot to set up a frantic final third of the contest.
Both sides pushed on looking to win the match, but the Bhoys could not force the breakthrough, although given how tight and competitive the group looks, they are unlikely to be too disappointed leaving with a 1-1 draw.
Christie was the class act for Celtic throughout the contest, as he has been for much of the campaign to date, something that has not been lost on their supporters.
A good number of those fans took to social media after the final whistle blew out in France, to point out just how vital the Scotland international is becoming to them and their chances of success this term.
Here are some of their messages:
Ryan Christie is a phenomenal player.
He has everything.
His pressing is world class and his composure and excellence on the ball is at an elite level.
I still feel he could develop more power and make more defence splitting runs.
But Scotland…build your team around him.

Great result for Celtic away from home, don’t forget Rennes beat PSG last month. Thought the intensity and press from Neil Lennon’s side was excellent. Ryan Christie always steps up for the occasion but the red card for Bayo is a simply ridiculous decision. Super point to start

Would've took that before the game. Daft from Ajer but he's given far more good shifts than mistakes. Denied a stone waller and given a red that never was.
Overall though a great performance. Julien different class and Ryan Christie must have 9 lungs.
