England played out a bore-draw with Germany on Friday evening at Wembley Stadium in a fixture Gareth Southgate used to look at some of his players, with fans taking to social media to praise an unlikely hero.

The Three Lions were fortunate to come away with a goalless tie after Leroy Sane rifled a shot against the crossbar and Jordan Pickford made a number of fine saves to keep the Germans out.

Debutant Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who was considered a surprise call-up by Southgate, repaid the faith shown in him after his first-half performance.

The Chelsea midfielder, who is currently on loan at Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace, was named the Man of the Match after a solid display against the world champions.

Just before the half-time whistle, the youngster was showing encouraging signs of creativity, as he tried to unleash Jamie Vardy and Tammy Abraham, who is a Blues team-mate also making his own debut.

Full of confidence, Loftus-Cheek continued in the same vein after the interval and looked to be the main man to create the chances for the Three Lions moving forward.

England fans may have been sceptical about Southgate’s decision to start the Eagles player from the beginning, however, by the end of the game they were more than happy with his performance for his country.

Many believe his display was a sign of things to come and has a bright future ahead of him, commenting on his class showing and was running the show for 90 minutes.
