Celtic missed out on the chance to go back to the top of the Scottish Premiership when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Motherwell on Wednesday evening, and their fans were not impressed by the performance of one of their players after the game.

The Bhoys did not know it at the time, but with their arch rivals Rangers slipping up at home to Aberdeen, a win at Fir Park would have given them their place at the summit of the league table back.

Things were actually looking good for Celtic when Ryan Christie gave them an early lead, but they were unable to kick on and suffered the hardest of sucker punches two minutes from time when Motherwell equalised.

It was a particularly poor performance from the Bhoys. That might not have been too surprising with Brendan Rodgers changing his side up, after emotional and energetic outings against Rosenborg and Aberdeen in the last six days.

Those switches to his side largely backfired as his team dropped two points, but with the hectic schedule Celtic are currently in the middle of something had to give.

It could all have been so different for the Bhoys, as they had a golden chance to double their lead in the first half against Motherwell.

Celtic were given a penalty when Christie was brought down, but Leigh Griffiths was unable to convert it with his spot kick well saved and that was to cost the Glasgow giants badly.

The Scotland international has been missing for the Bhoys in recent times through injury, and he did not display his usual sharpness at any stage in the match.

That was not lost on Celtic fans, with some of them taking to social media to criticise the forward, with some even wondering if he remains good enough for them.
