‘Done’ – Some West Brom supporters accept reality after Newcastle loss

West Bromwich Albion went out of the FA Cup on Tuesday evening, when they went down 3-2 to Newcastle United at The Hawthorns, and after the match fans dwelt on the reality concerning one of their players.

The Baggies headed into the match on top of the Championship and in good form, but their promotion bid has always been their priority, despite them going this far in the famous knockout competition.

As a result of that, West Brom boss Slaven Bilic made a host of changes to his side, and it did not go well for them, as they were 2-0 down at half time courtesy of a brace from Miguel Almiron.

Valentino Lazaro then put the visitors 3-0 up on the night and the Baggies race looked to be run, but to their credit they fought back and so nearly ended up levelling the game.

Matt Phillips pulled one back for West Brom with around 20 minutes to play and then deep into injury time Kenneth Zohore made it 3-2, but the midlanders ran out of time before they could find the equaliser that would have forced extra time in the tie.

One man who Bilic named in his starting XI was Chris Brunt, with the experienced midfielder struggling throughout the contest, giving an indication of which he has hardly featured in their Championship campaign recently.

The veteran has been a huge stalwart for the Baggies over the last number of seasons, but time might have caught up with him at the highest level, and if the club are promoted to the Premier League this term, it would seem as those his days are numbered.

That was certainly the feeling of a lot of West Brom fans when they reacted to his performance after the game on Twitter.
