This season Ollie McBurnie has played himself into Alex McLeish’s Scotland team and his preferred Ibrox move might not come to fruition for another year or two.
But the Glasgow Rangers blue brigade will love the fact that he wants to play for the club where his heart has always belonged.
They love the idea that the 22-year-old forward wants to star for them one day, and is obviously hoping that his dream transfer to Rangers will finally be granted to him.
He has stated that his favourite Rangers player is currently Alfredo Morelos and the fans will adore his biased opinion that Gerrard’s side can win their 55th title this season. I hope he’s right!
He’s scored six goals in the Championship for Swansea this season, but there is a lot more to his game than scoring goals, and has never hidden that he’s Rangers daft – good on you.
McBurnie is contracted until 2021, but will he decide to take a wage cut to join the Ibrox club to fulfil his dream?
I doubt the player would want to drop a lot of money, so the more goals he scores and the better he plays will be the answer to Gerrard making an excellent offer for his services.
When McBurnie was asked if he would sign for Celtic or Cardiff he replied “Neither”, and said he would rather retire than play for the Hoops.
There is no doubt that the Rangers supporters loved watching players like Ian Durrant, Barry and Derek Ferguson, Ally McCoist, Ian Ferguson, Bobby Shearer, Alex McDonald, Davy Wilson, Willie Henderson and more recently Andy Halliday and young star of the future Ross McCrorie.
All these guys were brought up as fans of the Light Blues and it was the highlight of their careers making their debuts for the historical winning Rangers.
