Wolverhampton Wanderers were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at Aston Villa on Wednesday evening, and after the match their fans took to social media to voice their displeasure.
These are currently great times for Wolves at the minute, with them back in the Premier League and off the back of a brilliant season which saw them qualify for the Europa League, a competition they are going very well in, while they also fared well in the FA Cup last term.
Given all that, there were some Wanderers fans who were eyeing up another deep run in the Carabao Cup, but that was not to be after boss Nuno Espirito Santo made 11 changes to his starting XI and paid the price.
Not only did the Wolves coach make so many switches to his side, he named a trio of teenagers in his squad, a line up which suggested he had little interest in winning at any stage.
Wanderers fell behind just before the half hour mark when Anwar El Ghazi put Villa in front, and although Patrick Cutrone levelled things up for the Molineux outfit, they got the disappointment many feared when the Villans snatched the tie through Ahmed Elmohamady.
Given that Wolves are fighting in the Premier League and look like going deep in the Europa League, the controversial team selection was understandable, but many supporters still felt let down by it.
Wanderers travelled in numbers to Villa Park, with 5,000 fans packing out the away end, and they were left disappointed both with the result, and the line up that was selected, with seemingly little sign they would be so weak leading up to the match.
Those Wolves supporters took to social media after the final whistle to highlight their displeasure at the selection from the manager.
