Dundee manager Jim McIntyre has admitted that Rangers-bound star Glen Kamara could join Steven Gerrard at Ibrox in January.

The Gers have agreed a pre-contract agreement for the player, meaning he will join the Glasgow outfit for free in the summer.

However, McIntyre has admitted that negotiations are in place with Rangers over a potential deal being struck this month.

“I think when a player signs a pre-contract nine times out of 10 he would rather move on,” he told Sky Sports.

“Everybody is aware of that. Discussions are ongoing, we will see where it leads.”

Any potential transfer fee would provide McIntyre with much-needed cash to rebuild some of his squad, to try and avoid relegation.

If both teams can compromise with each other and agree on a realistic transfer fee, it could make perfect sense for both clubs.

But, what would be a reasonable fee for Rangers to pay for the talented midfield general?

With losing Ovie Ejaria in midfield to Reading, and Lassana Coulibaly failing to live up to expectations in Scotland, it would benefit Rangers greatly by moving the deal forward to help in their quest to win the league title and Scottish Cup.

This move would also allow Kamara to join up with the Rangers squad early and get to know all the Light Blue players properly ahead of next season.

Kamara already knows how to perform well in the SPL, and is a standout playing for a Dundee side who sit at the bottom of the league.

Gerrard obviously rates Kamara highly – the new man could have a major role to play in his Rangers midfield.

Kamara can win the ball and keep hold of it. He make tackles and starts good attacking moves with his clever vision and decent passing ability.

In fact, ex-Rangers winger and former Dundee boss Neil McCann was raving about the talent of Kamara at the weekend. He couldn’t praise him enough.

According to McCann, every Rangers fan should feel excited about what the player can produce in a blue jersey, and that seems to be what Gerrard thinks as well.

But, should Rangers pay money for a player who is joining the club in five months?
