‘Dire’ – Some Aston Villa fans unimpressed with defender who had ‘shocker’ vs Leicester

Aston Villa suffered another humbling night in the Premier League on Monday evening, when they lost 4-0 at the hands of Leicester City, and after the game their fans were critical of one of their defenders.

The Villans entered the contest at the King Power Stadium in the bottom three of the table, in need of a result to boost their chances of surviving, but that never looked like materialising despite a bright opening 10 minutes.

Villa were looking to show they were over their defeat in the Carabao Cup final last weekend, but once Leicester got control of the game they never relented it.

What would have annoyed Villans players, staff and fans alike, is the helping hand they gave their opponents that got them on their way in a contest which they began in indifferent form.

Villa gifted Leicester the lead when goalkeeper Pepe Reina came flying off his line to a ball he had no chance of getting, only to be beaten to it by Harvey Barnes, who opened the scoring.

After the break Jamie Vardy converted a harshly awarded penalty, before adding a second soon after. The scoring was rounded off by the man who started it late on, as the Villans succumbed to a heavy defeat.

There were a number of Villa players on the night who could have been singled out for criticism, but one of the worst was summer recruit Frederic Guilbert, who it is fair to say did not have his best showing for the club.

He was regularly out of position throughout the game, and was at fault for the third goal the Villans conceded in a disastrous display.

That was not missed by Villa supporters, many of whom wasted no time in criticising the defender when they took to social media after the final whistle.

Here are some of their messages:
