Aston Villa fans were left sweating on the fitness on key duo Jonathan Kodjia and Tammy Abraham on Saturday.
The Villains defeated Bristol City 2-1 at Villa Park at the weekend, as they strengthened their position in the play-off places.
Kodjia was missing for Aston Villa in the victory, while goal scorer Abraham was substituted during the second half.
Between them, the striking duo have contributed 32 goals for the Villains this season, and are crucial to their chances of gaining promotion to the Premier League.
Villa supporters will be delighted to hear that it is good news regarding both Kodjia and Abraham though, as they are set to be fit for their next fixture against Bolton Wanderers on Friday.
“Kodj got a whack on Wednesday, in his ribs,” Smith told Birmingham Live. “We had a recovery day on Thursday and he had to go in from training.
“He had an injection, we thought that might solve it but it hasn’t so he’s gone and had a scan today.”
“Tammy was fatigued, he has put an awful lot into the last two or three games and his hamstring had just gone tight.”
Kodjia was expected to earn a start for Aston Villa following his goal scoring appearance during midweek, helping them to a 2-1 victory over Rotherham.
Without him, Smith’s men still managed to get the job done, and the fitness of both players will be key if they are to gain promotion to the top flight.
Abraham, who is on loan from Chelsea, has netted 24 times in all competitions this season, and the Villa boss can be forgiven for being cautious about the fitness of the striker.
