Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on Celtic defender Kieran Tierney after Danny Rose’s controversial comments in the press, according to The Mirror.

Spurs fans were mortified to read their left-back state that he is open to a move back to the north of England and question the club’s ambition and strength in depth – among other things.

Rose is currently injured and as such has not been subjected to the expected vitriol from the Tottenham supporters in the terraces, but there remains a question mark over his future in North London.

Should the England international be allowed to leave Tottenham after his comments of dissatisfaction, The Mirror state that Celtic star Tierney could potentially be his replacement.

The Scotland international has had a meteoric rise to the top of the game in recent years, with the versatile defender an undoubted star for a Bhoys side that went unbeaten domestically last term.

Tierney’s ambition on the front foot, work-rate, ability on the ball and dedication have made him a fans’ favourite at Celtic – but these attributes will also appeal to Tottenham.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino likes young players that are comfortable on the ball and have a positive attitude, with the Bhoys star certainly fitting this bill.

With Tierney also proving that he can play at either left or right-back for Celtic, while starring as a centre-half for Scotland, this versatility will not have gone unnoticed at Tottenham.

The transfer window is entering the final stage and should Spurs look to cash-in on Rose and reinvest the money in the Celtic man, they will have to work quickly.

Brendan Rodgers will surely do everything in his power to keep Tierney at Parkhead, but should Tottenham be willing to pay a sizeable fee for the defender, it would put the Scottish champions in a tough position.

  1. Kieran Tierney to Spurs isn’t gonna happen.

He will move, but not for three years or so, and not to Spurs.

He will move to a top three premier league team.

  2. Brendan Rogers won’t need to work any magic on Tierney to convince him to stay, the Celtic board however,if tempted by a mega money bid by Spurs would need all the magic
in the world to tempt Tierney to leave his beloved Celtic.Celtic the club he and his family have supported for generatons, are a team going places with the young, strong and exciting footballing side Brendan Rogers is assembling.
Young Tierney has plenty of time on his hands to negotiate a big money move in two or three seasons time. But in the meantime i think he will want to stay and work under Rogers

    • He cannot be good enough, he plays in Scotland. Celtic have no competition & they would struggle in the English Championship League.

      • So Van Dijk, Wanyama, Forster they by youre silly mentality that you cant be a top quality player if you play in a contry where less money is spent on players. Those same comments were made by people down south about those 3 call spurs stupid for signing one of the youngest and best midfield enforcers at his age (wanyama) and how he developed as a player at Celtic.

      • Is that why Man City couldn’t beat them even once in 2 tries last year and Celtic could do what 10 previous EPL teams failed to do at the start of last year (take points from City)?

        • Tottenham have never swiped your so called best players to my knowledge. They got Wanyama from Southampton who made him into a good player.

          • Clive,G.Souness,A.Conn,G.Smith,W.Young,S.Achibald,A.Brazil,R.Gough,C.Calderwood,G,Durie,N.Sullivan,and A.Hutton are all Scottsh players who have graced the turf at W.H.L.
I am pretty sure there are many more, but the ones mentioned are the only ones i can recall in my 55 years of watching football.
But it never ceases to amaze me the utter arrogance of some, but not all,English football fans. No,Scottish football clubs don’t have the money that your clubs down South have, due to obvious reasons i don’t need to mention. But what we do have that many of your clubs don’t,is passionate fans both at club and international level.
p.s. And why did Southampton buy Wanyama and to that matter Forster and Van Dyke from Celtic in the first place?

  3. So a Tottenham player says he wants out, and that means Celtic and tierney won’t have any say in whether Tottenham sign him. Fuck off gareth, you absolute bawbag. Tierney admitted he and Celtic knocked back the EPL in January so he’s not going anywhere now.
