Danny Mills has suggested to Football Insider that Tottenham Hotspur can replace Christian Eriksen by signing former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.
Eriksen is out of contract at Tottenham in the summer of 2020, and no new deal is in place.
Spurs could be forced to cash in on the Denmark international attacking midfielder this summer if the 27-year-old does not sign a new deal.
Former Manchester City and England international right-back Mills believes that Barcelona attacking midfielder Coutinho will be a good replacement for Eriksen at Tottenham.
Mills told Football Insider about Eriksen: “He’s not irreplaceable. There are good players out there who could replace him – Coutinho is one, Spurs can get him perhaps – but it’s going to cost you an awful lot of money.”
Philippe Coutinho to Tottenham Hotspur?
Coutinho is a very good attacking player who can also operate as a winger, and the Brazil international will be a good signing for Tottenham as a replacement for Eriksen.
True, the 26-year-old has not been exactly great since he left Liverpool for Barcelona, but the Brazilian’s performances during his time in the Premier League and his natural talent do indicate that he will be a smart signing for Spurs should Eriksen leave this summer.
