Crystal Palace look to have beat Stoke City to the signature of defender Bruno Martins Indi, according to Sky Sports.

Despite spending last season on loan with The Potters, the 25-year-old is reported to have chosen Selhurst Park as his next destination.

Stoke had hoped to make the deal permanent after he impressed in his 35 Premier League starts, however Frank de Boer looks to have landed the Porto centre-half.

The signing would bolster the Eagles’ defence, as he would join established pairing Scott Dann and James Tomkins at the back.

Palace will be looking to break into the top half and challenge for a place in Europe in the coming season, as an improvement on finishing 14th last season.

They managed to escape the drop thanks to the arrival of Sam Allardyce, with the club finishing seven points above the relegation zone.

He has since left the club though, with De Boer now at the helm and looking to do some business in the summer transfer window.

The Potters will be desperate to find a replacement for Martins Indi though, as he was a constant in their starting line-up last term.

Stoke managed to finish one place above Palace, with three points separating the two sides, and they will also be looking to improve and push up the table.

The Dutch international will be sorely missed at The Bet365 Stadium, and Mark Hughes will be disappointed that he has chosen not to stay with his squad.

It will hurt even more that he could line up against his side in the coming season, and the loss of his man to a rival club is not good news.

Can Martins Indi be a rock at the back for Palace, and will Stoke regret not concluding a permanent deal for the defender after his successful stint with the club?

  1. Clearly you missed some information and other articles. Nothing is confirmed and Bruno has travelled to Mexico with Porto, highly doubt he will be signing for Palace now
