Liverpool kept up the heat on leaders Manchester City on Sunday afternoon when they saw off Burnley 4-2 at Anfield, and after the match their fans were full of praise for one of their front three.

The Reds headed into the contest knowing that they could not afford to lose if they were going to keep the pressure on the reigning champions, and when the Clarets took the lead early on in the clash, they could be forgiven if they were to get a little edgy.

They didn’t however, and in the end Liverpool ran out pretty comfortable winners, from the minute that Roberto Firmino levelled the scores on the 20 minute mark.

The Reds were ahead not long after that when Sadio Mane scored the first of his two goals of the afternoon, and they did not look back from that position.

Firmino doubled the advantage in the second half, and while Burnley set up a grandstand finish, the Senegal international confirmed the three points for Liverpool by completing his brace in injury time.

That means that the Reds can now focus on the Champions League, where they will be looking to come past Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening, knowing full well that they are firmly in the Premier League title hunt still.

There were a number of good performers on the afternoon for Liverpool, but with his goals and his all-round contribution to the contest, Mane was the man recognised by many as the one who produced the key moments in the victory.

Reds supporters were quick to plough praise on the attacker when they reacted on social media after the full-time whistle, as the forward continues to quietly sneak up on those towards the top of the goalscoring charts in the Premier League.
