A club source as suggested that Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa is yet to take to on loan forward Eddie Nketiah, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.
The Whites took the Arsenal man to Elland Road for the remainder of the season in the summer, with many judges expecting him to replace Patrick Bamford as the spearhead of the attack of the Yorkshire outfit.
That is not how it has worked out to date though, with Nketiah seeing his game time restricted to the Carabao Cup ties and occasions appearances off the bench for Leeds in the Championship.
That may well be all well and good for the Whites if they were in the sort of position in the table that they were expected to be, however they went into the international break off the back of a defeat to Millwall and languishing in fifth spot, leaving people to question why the Arsenal man is not being used more often.
It now appears that if anything, Bamford has solidified his position as Bielsa’s favoured option up front, even though Leeds supporters have huge question marks over his ability to fire them to the Premier League.
When Nketiah has played he has often delivered the goods, bagging four goals in his nine appearances, including a vital late winner against Brentford earlier in the campaign, but despite that he has not been able to force his way into the starting plans of the Leeds coach.
The 20-year-old has looked an exciting prospect whenever he has made his way onto the pitch, but it would seem as though the Whites fans are not going to get their wish to see more of him, if the local journalist is to be believed.
All eyes will be on Bielsa and his teamsheet when his side host Birmingham City in their first match back from the international break next weekend, although it would be a surprise if Leeds supporters see Nketiah’s name in the starting XI it would appear.
