Glasgow Rangers made it through to the next round of qualifying for the Europa League in convincing style on Thursday evening, and afterwards their fans were full of praise for one of their high profile new additions when reflecting on the match on social media.

The Gers were already as good as through after beating St Josephs 4-0 in the first leg of their tie, but they rubber stamped their progression in a confident manner at Ibrox.

There was never any doubt that it would be Rangers going into the next round, the question was just how big their overall margin of victory was going to be, and from the time new signing Joe Aribo opened the scoring on the night in just the third minute, the sense was it would be quite large.

The Gers ran away with the contest the longer it went on, with a hat-trick from Alfredo Morelos combined with a brace for Jermain Defoe running up the score for a 6-0 victory in the end.

It was a perfect evening for Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, who not only saw his side progress in a ruthless fashion, but it will have instilled plenty of confidence in his front men, with them bagging five goals between them in the romp.

While the Gers’ strikers took much of the limelight, it was the display of the new signing Aribo which excited their supporters the most.

The former Charlton Athletic ace arrived at Rangers with a lofty expectation on him, given how well he played for the Addicks last season, and there were signs on Thursday evening of what the Ibrox faithful can look forward to over the remainder of the campaign.

Many Gers’ fans expressed their enthusiasm over their new signing on Twitter after the final whistle blew against the Gibraltar side.
