Aston Villa confirmed the signing of winger Anwar El Ghazi from Lille for an undisclosed fee on Monday morning, and after the announcement their supporters took to social media to react to the news.

The Villans fans know all about the Netherlands international as he spent the majority of last season at Villa Park, scoring the opening goal in the Championship play-off final which got the Birmingham based side on their way to a return to the Premier League.

He was only on loan with Villa at that time, but with no deal done to keep him at the club he was due to head back to Lille. Dean Smith was determined not to let that happen though and the two parties pushed on with a move that ensures the 24-year-old remains with the top flight new boys.

As well as his goal in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium, El Ghazi made a big impact in his first spell with the Villans, and has been challenged to continue to improve at Villa Park and go on and fulfil his outstanding potential at the club.

In all, the Dutch star made 36 appearances for Villa in a stint that saw him find the net on six occasions, including that memorable day in which the former European champions got promoted.

El Ghazi has penned a four-year deal with the Villans in a move which will make him a key feature of the squad for the foreseeable future.

Naturally, Villa fans were delighted to see someone who made such a big impression at Villa Park return for a permanent spell, with many of them believing that he has even more to offer than what they have already seen, and look forward to seeing the Dutchman deliver the goods in the top flight.
