Chelsea have had a £30 million offer for AC Milan star Alessio Romagnoli rejected, according to Sky Sports.
The 21-year-old centre-half is being tipped to follow in the footsteps of a host of world-renowned Italian defenders and is highly rated at the San Siro.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is in the market for a new centre-half and has publicly admitted that he needs more options at the heart of his rearguard.
The former Juventus trainer looks to be keeping a close eye on his homeland when it comes to transfer targets, but the latest offer for Romagnoli has been turned down.

Milan spent a sizeable €25 million to sign the able defender from domestic rivals Roma last year and the Italy under-21 international is a mainstay in the San Siro side’s back four.
The Rossoneri have had some financial issues in recent years and are prone to selling their best players, which will give Chelsea confidence to return with an improved offer for Romagnoli.
The Blues currently have John Terry and Gary Cahill at the heart of their defence, with Kurt Zouma on the recovery trail after serious injury.
