Chelsea face off against Burnley in a Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge on Monday, with the Blues hoping to bounce back following their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend.
Maurizio Sarri’s side will also be looking for nothing less than a win in order to bolster their chances of finishing in the top four this season.
If Chelsea win this game, they will be firmly in a race for a top four finish and Champions League qualification next season, though they would have played a game more than their rivals.
The last time that the two sides met in the Premier League was last October at Turf Moor, with Chelsea going on to record a comfortable 4-0 victory.
Sarri’s Blues side have dominated the recent meetings between the teams, having lost just one out of the nine top-flight games between the sides.
Burnley did however win the last Premier League game played against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which took place in August 2017.
The Clarets are also in good form at the moment, having won their previous three Premier League games, so Chelsea could face a difficult task to win this game.
Blues midfielder Eden Hazard is expected to be fit for the game on Monday after having recovered from an injury that he sustained while playing on Thursday during his side’s victory over Slavia Prague in the Europa League, according to the BBC Sport.
Chelsea will however have to make do without the services of centre-back Antonio Rudiger due to a knee problem.
Defeats for Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Arsenal over the weekend have handed Chelsea the ideal opportunity to record victory and move into third place.
