Chelsea play against Liverpool in a Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday and the visitors will know they need to be at their best to leave Merseyside with three points.
Maurizio Sarri’s Blues side are playing against one of the best teams in the Premier League and based upon how this season has gone so far, they will have to go into the game as pre-match underdogs.
Chelsea have however won their past three Premier League games and will be fired up for this game as they look to ensure a top-four finish this term.
The sides have met twice so far this season with both games coming in September. The Blues defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the EFL Cup while the League game played between the two sides at Stamford Bridge ended in a 1-1 draw.
Chelsea have a good recent record at Anfield. Liverpool have failed to beat them during the past six Premier League games played between the two teams at the ground.
Chelsea are set to recall Eden Hazard to their starting lineup after the Belgian was only used as a substitute during the Europa League game against Slavia Prague.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to be drafted back into the squad while Emerson Palmieri will undergo a fitness test, according to a report published by Sky Sports.
It does remain to be seen whether Sarri will play a full strength XI for this game. He may just prioritise the Europa League this season and opt to rest players ahead of his side’s quarter-final second leg clash against Slavia Prague next week.
The Europa League may be an easier path for the Blues to get into next season’s Champions League than securing a top four finish.
