Manchester United centre-half Phil Jones has been a man in demand this summer, with a host of Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester City all making inquiries about him according to The Daily Mail.

The England international has had injury concerns over the last 12 months and has not played a lot of football for the Red Devils.

Following the summer arrival of Jose Mourinho, Jones looks set to remain on the fringes of first-team action.

New signing Eric Bailly has been massively impressive since moving to Old Trafford from Villarreal and has been partnered at the back by the versatile Daley Blind.

With Chris Smalling also in contention for a starting role for Mourinho’s men, Jones could well find himself watching on from the sidelines more often than playing.

The report suggests that United have had plenty of offers to sell the former Blackburn Rovers man this summer but do not want to offload a player to a Premier League rival.

Chelsea are in the market for a new central defender and could surely use someone like Jones, but it looks likely that the Englishman will stay at Old Trafford and fight for a place in the team.

  1. If United are not going to use Jones, abiding by the program of RESPECT would suggest that United should leave the decision of where to go to ply his trade to Jones. This is the honourable thing to do and I believe Mourinho to be a man of honour.
