Chelsea recorded a 1-0 victory against BATE Borisov on Thursday night and fans were pleased with the performance of one of their fringe men on social media.

The Blues secured qualification from the group to advance to the next round of the Europa League, however, it was a poor showing from the side and they certainly rode their luck.

The hosts had hit the woodwork on three occasions and certainly tested Kepa Arrizabalaga in the goal, but were also wasteful with a number of their attempts.

Chelsea had the post on their side, whilst they also had Olivier Giroud to thank as he managed to head the only goal of the game in the second half.

The Frenchman, who scored his first Chelsea goal since the first week of May, proved to be the difference in what was a really lacklustre performance.

Fans were not too enamoured with the display they saw from their team, however, one man did appear to impress them on social media.

Emerson Palmieri, who provided the assist for Giroud’s goal, was chosen in place of Marcos Alonso and put in a solid performance.

Supporters took to Twitter to praise the Italian full-back, with many sharing the opinion that he needs to get more minutes on the pitch.
