Chelsea are confident of beating Arsenal to the signing of highly rated Exeter City youngster Ethan Ampadu, despite his dad working for Gunners, The Mirror are reporting.
The 16-year-old came onto the Blues’ radar when he played against them in the Checkatrade Trophy in October.
Ampadu became the youngest-ever player to appear for the side when he made his senior team debut in August at just 15 years, 10 months and 26 days old – a record which had stood for 87 years.

His first match was against Brentford in the League Cup and he has already represented Wales at both under 17 and 19 level, but he is also eligible to play for England, Ireland and Ghana.
Kwame Ampadu, Ethan’s father, currently works with Arsenal’s under-18 side, but it seems one of their biggest rivals are looking to snatch him before the Gunners have the chance.
Chelsea are looking to acquire the defensive midfielder for £2 million.
Having already attracted interest from Manchester United earlier in the year, Ampadu could be tempted to take the chance of moving to a big club to continue his development and increase his chances of playing in the Premier League one day.
