Chelsea are on the verge of signing Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina and will conclude a £23 million deal for the left-back on transfer deadline day according to The Guardian.
The Spanish defender has impressed since moving to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, with his attacking intentions from full-back winning over the Viola’s fans.
Alonso played for Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland in the Premier League in the past, but his stock has risen considerably since switching to Italian football.

Chelsea’s left-back position has been an issue for some time and the Fiorentina man’s capture may well allow Cesar Azpilicueta to resort back to his more-natural right-back role.
Antonio Conte knows Alonso well from his time managing Juventus in his homeland and is clearly willing to spend a considerable transfer fee to bring the star to Stamford Bridge.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will also move to sign a new central defender before the transfer window closes.
