Chelsea’s out-of-favour midfielder Cesc Fabregas is set for a January move to AC Milan and talks over the deal have already begun, according to Tuttosport, as reported in The Sun.

The Spain international has found regular first-team football hard to come by at Stamford Bridge this season, with Antonio Conte preferring the likes of N’Golo Kante, Nemanka Matic and Oscar in his midfield.

Fabregas was not part of the matchday squad as Chelsea defeated champions Leicester City 3-0 in the Premier League on Saturday and may well have to leave west London if he is to improve his chances of playing.

The report suggests that Milan, who are in the market for new signings after the arrival of wealthy new Chinese backs, are ready to make a major move for the former Barcelona playmaker in the new year.

The Serie A side are believed to have already sounded out both Chelsea and the player over the willingness of Fabregas moving to San Siro in January.

The gifted midfielder was an essential part of the Blues side that was crowned 2014-15 Premier League champions but has suffered a severe dip in form over the last 12 months in particular.
