Preston North End have no interest in bringing former striker Joe Garner back to the club from Glasgow Rangers, according to the Lancashire Evening Post.
Ibrox chief Pedro Caixinha is expected to part company with a host of the current Gers squad, with a number of Mark Warburton’s acquisitions set to be shown the exit door.
Reports in the Scottish press had stated earlier this week that Preston were ready to launch a £500,000 offer for Garner this summer, with the 29-year-old’s future at Rangers unclear.
The Englishman has struggled to show consistency at Ibrox and as such is being linked with a possible return to his homeland ahead of next season.
However, the latest report is that Preston are not interested in bring Garner back to Deepdale, with sources close to the regional newspaper pouring cold water on suggestions of a potential deal.
Rangers have issues in the final third, with a reliance on veteran Kenny Miller and few other proven options to score goals consistently.
Caixinha is expected to address this issue as a priority, but as yet there is no news over whether Garner will be at Ibrox to help the Glasgow club close the gap on bitter cross-city rivals Celtic.
