Glasgow Celtic striker Vakoun Bayo could be set to return to action in time for the club’s Champions League qualification second-leg encounter against FC Sarajevo on July 17, according to a report published by The Sun.
Bayo was the only player from the Hoops first-team to pick up an injury during the three match training tour to Austria and Switzerland.
There are also fitness concerns over key Celtic duo Tom Rogic and Kieran Tierney. Australian international Rogic was not even part of the tour as he remained in Scotland in order to focus on increasing his fitness.
Tierney traveled to Austria five days later than the rest of the camp. The youngster is being strongly linked with a Parkhead exit and it remains to be seen whether he will be part of Neil Lennon’s side during the new season.
Olivier Ntcham is set to rejoin the Hoops side. The youngster is involved with France at the U-21 Championship.
Even though Celtic have dominated Scottish football for the best part of the past decade, they have struggled to make much of an impact in the Champions League and European competition in general.
Some use their success in their homeland and lack of success in Europe to demonstrate why they feel that the Scottish top-flight is not on par with even the English Championship.
The Hoops must aim to prove their doubters wrong during the new season and advance to the Champions League group stages.
