Glasgow Celtic are thought to be leading the race to sign Daniel Arzani on a temporary basis once he completes his move to Manchester City, according to reports in The Scottish Sun.
The media outlet are claiming that the Melbourne City star is expected to sign for the Premier League champions and be immediately sent to the Scottish Premiership champions where he will continue his development.
Celtic are understood to want to have an extended loan period for the versatile teenager, with the Hoops hoping to have him on a two-year agreement, rather than a typical one-year deal.
Brendan Rodgers’ side will be hoping the club’s relationship with the Etihad Stadium outfit would help to ease the process along, after having Patrick Roberts spend two-and-a-half year’s at Celtic Park previously.
Despite Celtic being favourites to land Arzani, there is rumoured interest from Holland with Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven hoping to steal him from under the Bhoys’ noses.
The Iranian-born Australia international impressed at this summer’s World Cup after having made a huge impact in the A-League, despite still being just 19-years-old and became the youngest player ever at the tournament overall, not just for Australia.
Arzani can play on the wing or just behind the striker and playing regular football in Scotland’s top league could be beneficial to his development.
He would also have the added bonus of not being the only Australian at the club, with Tom Rogic and Leo Mazis already at Celtic Park and could find the transition phase a lot easier with them.
