Celtic once again failed to take their domestic form into European competition as they were heavily beaten 3-0 by Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, with many of their fans taking to Twitter to voice their frustrations, but also delight in some cases, over an individual.

Brendan Rodgers side are in one of the toughest groups of the tournament, with The Hoops having to compete for a place in the knockout rounds against Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht, as well as the German giants.

Celtic, who managed to get a 3-0 win against the Belgium outfit in the previous matchday, struggled to replicate the same performance against the Bundesliga side, with Bayern dominant in a one-sided clash in Bavaria.

Celtic went behind early to a Thomas Muller strike before Joshua Kimmich doubled the Bavarians’ lead on the half-hour mark.

Five minutes after the restart, Rodgers’ side went further behind when Mats Hummels netted a header from an Arjen Robben cross, compounding the Hoops to two defeats so far in this year’s competition.

Celtic will host Bayern in the return fixture at Parkhead in two weeks and their fans will be hoping the team, and in particular, the defence and goalkeeper, provide a better showing and appear more effective.

Craig Gordon was one of the individuals that picked up a lot of the attention from supporters on social media, with many feeling that he had a shocker of a game in regards to his distribution, however, there were some that felt if it was not for him, the result could have been a whole lot worse.

The Scotland international has been criticised by many in the past for his performances, although fans believe that he is key to their plans at Parkhead.

Here are some of the best tweets found on Gordon’s display:
