Glasgow Celtic progressed through to the final qualifying round of the Champions League on Wednesday night with a routine 4-0 win over Linfield at Parkhead.

Goals from Tom Rogic, Stuart Armstrong and a Scott Sinclair brace confirmed the comfortable victory for the Scottish side, who are now set to face Norwegian side Rosenborg in the next stage.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers used the opportunity to hand new signing Olivier Ntcham his competitive debut for the club, with the French midfielder starting in midfield.

The former Genoa loanee has moved to Parkhead on a permanent basis from Manchester City and hopes are high among the Hoops supporters that the 21-year-old can become a cult hero among the Celtic Park faithful.

The initial prognosis seems positive, with Ntcham playing a role in two of the home side’s goals and impressing with his energy and ability to get from box-to-box.

In the long term the Frenchman may well be a replacement for Scott Brown, but against Linfield the pair were both given the nod to play.

Ntcham was given a warm reception and rapturous applause after he was removed just after the hour mark, with Armstrong coming on to replace him.

The combative midfielder will be pleased to have had his first run-out for Celtic and will surely be looking towards helping the Scottish club qualify for the group stages of Europe’s top tournament.

The Hoops fans have been quick to take to Twitter to give their verdict on the new man, which was overwhelmingly positive.

Fellow new arrival Kundai Benyu, who came off the bench in the victory, was also afforded praise but the majority of the kind words were sent in Ntcham’s direction – here are the best tweets.
