Glasgow Celtic have announced on their official website that striker Leigh Griffiths has signed a new four-year contract with the Scottish champions.

The Scotland international forward is a fan favourite and has been an important man for the Bhoys over recent seasons, where the Parkhead outfit have been the dominant force in the domestic game.

Griffiths will contest a starting role in the Celtic team with club-record signing Odsonne Eduoard, who got the nod from Brendan Rodgers to play in the 0-0 draw against St Mirren on Friday night.

Given that the Hoops sold Moussa Dembele to Lyon in the summer but did replace the France under-21 international, the former Hibs striker looks set to have more opportunities to feature moving forward.

Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at the club tying Griffiths down to a long-term deal and have stated the attacker will play a big role in their hunt for ten league titles in a row.
