Celtic are set to make 19-year-old defensive midfielder Kouassi Eboue from FC Krasnodar their first signing of the transfer window, according to the Daily Record.

The Ivory-Coast born player has been impressing since his move to Russia in 2014, with his performances in the Europa League being particularly of note.

The Hoops are currently top of the Scottish Premiership, with a 19-point lead over second place arch rivals Rangers.

The defensive midfielder has scored one goal and provided two assists in 19 games in all competitions so far this season for the Russian side.

The deal will be completed once the youngster agrees personal terms with the club and is granted a work permit.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly looking to strengthen his squad in preparation for the second qualification round of the Champions League.

It seems the lure of the potential to play in Europe’s most prestigious competition against some of the world’s best convinced Eboue to switch Russia for Scotland.
