Celtic went into the international break on the back of the perfect result, as they were comfortable 6-0 winners over St Johnstone.
It was a victory that took Brendan Rodgers men within three points of league leaders Hearts, as they currently sit third in the Scottish Premiership table.
James Forrest scored four goals in the rout, with Odsonne Edouard and Callum McGregor also finding the net for Celtic.
Their boss was delighted with the win, but also praised the return of Croatian duo Filip Benkovic and Jozo Simunovic at the weekend
“It was great to have Filip and Jozo back,” Rodgers told the Celtic View podcast.
“In the second half, Filip got himself on to three balls from Leigh Griffiths. He’s a real threat and he can defend in the other box as well.
“We needed to get him up to speed so it was a good 60 minutes for him and Jozo came on as well. It’s good to get some games in their legs because they are a lot of important games coming up after the international break.”
Celtic have had a shaky start to their Scottish title defence, but have clawed their way back to only three points off the top of the table.
Rodgers will be hoping his international players return next week unscathed, as they prepare for a crucial clash with Hibernian.
A victory in their next game will take Celtic second and keep the pressure on league leaders Hearts, as they look to claim the title for an eighth successive season.
