Leeds United’s new signing Barry Douglas, who joined the club for a reported £3 million from Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday has received well wishes from his former side’s fanbase after tweeting a heartfelt farewell message.
The 28-year-old played a pivotal role in helping Wolves top the Championship table and return to the top flight, making 42 appearances in all competitions and finding the back of the net on five occasions, as he made the left-back spot his own under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, the arrival of Jonny Castro on a season-long loan from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid has seen the Scotland international move on to pastures new, becoming Marcelo Bielsa’s first permanent signing since taking over the reins at Elland Road.
Despite only spending one full season at Molineux, Douglas won over the Wolves faithful, who are grateful for the defender’s contribution in their promotion-clinching campaign.
Whilst most Wolves fans were expecting the Scot to feature in their opening-day fixture against Everton, the former Dundee United left-back will instead be hoping to line up for Leeds in their curtain raiser at home to Stoke City, next Saturday.
It appears that the Molineux faithful will be willing Douglas on to enjoy another successful campaign with the Whites. Here are some of the best tweets:
