Leicester City defender Harry Maguire is a target for Manchester United, according to a report published by The Daily Mail.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with the Foxes centre-back last summer after he performed impressively for England during their 2018 World Cup campaign.
The Three Lions exceeded the expectations of many in Russia as they went on to reach the semi-finals of the global showpiece before being eliminated by Croatia, with Leicester star Maguire playing a key role in the team’s success.
Jose Mourinho reportedly attempted to bring Maguire to Old Trafford last summer but in the end a deal did not take place as Leicester held firm on their evaluation of the player.
The centre-back position has been a problem for United during recent years with neither Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly being particularly consistent while deployed in the position.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will no doubt bring in new players during the summer and it will be very surprising if the club does not bring in a new centre-back as well as offload one of the current options that they have in the position.
The report added that Leicester star Maguire is open to joining the Red Devils. At 26-years-old, he is nearing the peak of his career. He will be wanting to play European football as well as challenge for major trophies at this stage of his career and to do that, he will have to leave the Foxes.
Maguire is currently earning wages of around £140,000 per week, added the report published by the Daily Mail. A move to United could allow him to earn nearly double that figure.
Leicester fans will be keen to hold onto their best players this summer and Brendan Rodgers will have a job on his hands to convince someone like Maguire that his future is at the King Power Stadium if United come knocking.
