Bournemouth team news: Quartet ruled out of Southampton clash, wideman a doubt

Bournemouth will face Southampton in the matchday 37 clash in the English Premier League at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

The Cherries are having a very difficult season where they are amongst the favourties to be relegated to the Championship.

With just two matchdays to go, Bournemouth are currently placed in 18th position on the league table with just 31 points, three-behind 17th-placed Watford.

Therefore, Cherries manager Eddie Howe will know that his team will have to find a way to produce a positive result on Sunday or else they could be playing in the England’s second-tier next season.

In their previous league fixture, Bournemouth produced a fighting display in a 2-1 defeat against league giants Manchester City, which will give fans a lot of hope going into the weekend’s must-win clash.

In the previous fixture between the teams, it was Howe’s men who came out on top with the score of 3-1 in September 2019.

On the team news front, as per BBC Sport, Bournemouth are facing a serious crisis in their defensive unit with the likes of Nathan Ake, Chris Mepham, Charlie Daniels and Simon Francis all ruled out for the match on Sunday.

Cherries right-back Adam Smith is also uncertain for the clash and his fitness will be monitored before the match.

Bournemouth’s last fixture of the season will be an away day at Everton next weekend – Howe will hope his men are going into the clash at Goodison Park with a fighting chance of retaining their Premier League status.
