Best Premier League Games To Watch In March

The Premier League title race took another twist on Saturday evening when Manchester City claimed a narrow 1-0 win against Leeds United at Elland Road.

That victory took them to within two points of league leaders Arsenal, putting further pressure on Mikel Arteta’s troops ahead of a potential title decider against Chelsea on March 1.

The London derby is one of the most eye-catching Premier League fixtures to watch out for this month, and there are several live-streaming options available to ensure fans don’t miss out on the action.

There are other high-profile fixtures to keep an eye on, particularly with Tottenham Hotspur set to host Nottingham Forest in a fiery relegation battle.

At the time of writing, just two points separate both teams on the Premier League table while they hover dangerously above the relegation zone.

While much of the attention in the coming weeks will be on proceedings at the top of the table, the relegation battle will also give fans something to keep an eye on.

Read on as we take a look at some of the best games to watch in March.

Arsenal vs Chelsea – March 1

Arsenal and Chelsea go head-to-head for a fourth time this season in a contest that will likely have a major impact on the Premier League title race.

The previous Premier League meeting ended in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

But the Gunners eliminated Chelsea in the EFL Cup semi-final, winning 4-2 on aggregate to book a showpiece final against Manchester City.

Whether the Blues can avenge that elimination here remains to be seen, but getting maximum points is paramount to both clubs’ ambitions.

Arsenal will head into this fixture with a slender two-point lead, knowing anything other than a win puts their title ambitions in further jeopardy.

Meanwhile, back-to-back draws against newly promoted Leeds United and Burnley have left Chelsea’s top-four hopes in jeopardy. Dropping more points against Arsenal will only worsen their situation.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea – March 4

Aston Villa were once considered title contenders alongside Man City and Arsenal, but injuries to key players have thrown a wrench in those dreams.

Unai Emery’s side are now focused on consolidating their place in the top four, but Friday’s shocking 2-0 defeat against basement club Wolverhampton Wanderers has put them in a precarious position.

That result has paved the way for Manchester United to go level on points, with Liverpool having already closed the gap to three points.

The consequences of that defeat to Wolves could stretch into matchweek 29, when Villa welcome fellow Champions League hopefuls Chelsea to Birmingham.

Fortunately for the Villans, they’re unbeaten in their last two home meetings with Chelsea (W1, D1), having won just one of the previous six (L5).

Newcastle United vs Sunderland – March 22

The Tyneside derby is one of the most promising fixtures worth keeping an eye on this month.

Sunderland came out on top in the reverse fixture, securing a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United courtesy of a comical own goal from Nick Woltemade.

That win extended the Black Cats’ phenomenal derby record against Newcastle in the Premier League.

You’d have to go back to August 2011 for the last time Sunderland lost a Premier League Tyneside derby to Newcastle, with the Black Cats now going 10 games unbeaten in this fixture.

Newcastle thrashed Sunderland 3-0 to advance to the FA Cup fourth round and will need to replicate that performance in the Premier League to reignite their European ambition.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest – March 22

Tottenham Hotspur will host Nottingham Forest in a crucial relegation six-pointer on March 22.

Interim manager Igor Tudor has admitted that the scale of the job at Tottenham has caught him by surprise, but he’ll still back himself to dig them out of their predicament.

There are just two points between these two sides at the time of writing, with Tottenham in 16th and Forest in 17th place in the Premier League table.

The landscape may have changed significantly by the time this fixture rolls around, but a win for either side would be a massive boost in their relegation survival battle.
