Gareth Bale has chosen his greatest ever team-mate – and it isn’t Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portugal captain is considered one of the world’s best players and has scored a whopping 371 goals during his time at Real Madrid.

Bale, though, has chosen someone distinctly closer to home for the illustrious title – in the form of compatriot Ryan Giggs.
“For me the greatest player is Ryan Giggs. He was my hero growing up and is a legend in world football. It also helps he’s a fellow Welshman” the ex-Tottenham Hotspur winger told shoe brand Footlocker via The Sun.
The revelation may come as a surprise to some given the age difference between the two.
The pair only ever played twice together for the Wales national team, although both players scored in one of those outings – a 3-0 victory over San Marino in 2007.
Bale, however, has long been known as a huge admirer of the Manchester United legend – and Giggs’ achievements during his playing career make him a worthy candidate of such a prestigious honour.
Ronaldo, who is hot favourite for the 2016 Ballon d’Or award, could be understandably angered by the snub from his team-mate at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Both players have recently signed mega new contracts at the club, leaving many – including Madrid team-mate Dani Carvajal – to speculate that Bale is about the usurp the former Manchester United winger as the king in the Spanish capital.
