Aston Villa could make a move for Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips this summer, according to a report published by Football Insider.
The 23-year-old will reportedly be sold by the Whites this summer after the club’s hierarchy reportedly gave manager Marcelo Bielsa the go-ahead to sell him.
Phillips was one of the stars for Leeds this season as he went on to make 44 Championship appearances, scoring one goal and recording three assists. He may be tempted to leave the club this summer after they yet again failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.
Villa on the other hand booked their pace in English football’s top flight with a 2-1 win over Derby County at Wembley on Monday.
Meanwhile, Southampton, Bournemouth and Norwich City are also all interested in acquiring the signature of Leeds star Phillips, add Football Insider.
This summer promises to be an interesting transfer window for Leeds. After failing to secure promotion, they are bound to lose one or two of their stars to Premier League sides.
The club will no doubt be hoping to once again challenge for promotion next season. It will be unavoidable losing some players but the club must aim to keep the core of the side that played this season intact ahead of next term.
Should there be too many changes within the first-team, it could potentially have a negative impact on the club come next season. It also remains to be seen whether Bielsa will be remaining at the Leeds helm of the Whites next season.
Villa fans are delirious after their promotion back to the Premier League, with the exciting prospect of summer recruitment before they return to top-flight action in August.
