Aston Villa take on Stoke City in a Championship game away from home on Saturday afternoon, with Dean Smith’s men travelling to the bet365 Stadium.
While Villa are ahead of the Potters on the league standings, there are just four points separating the two sides.
Villa need nothing less than a win if they are to keep alive their faint hopes of promotion.
Smith’s side will have to make do without the services of defender James Chester (knee injury) and the talented Jack Grealish (calf injury), as reported by BBC Sport.
Other Villa players who are likely to not play for the Midlands club this weekend include Henri Lansbury and Axel Tuanzebe.
Tom Carroll, who joined Villa on loan from Swansea City last month, has also made a return to first-team training.
It was previously believed that the latter could have made his debut during this weekend’s game against the Potters, however Villa will likely have to wait another week before they can finally integrate him into the first-team.
Goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic is also unlikely to play during the game due to a concussion, while John McGinn is currently serving a two-match ban after having earned ten yellow cards this season.
Meanwhile, Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland is set to wear a special plain green jersey during the game this Saturday in order to pay homage to the life of former England goalkeeper Gordan Banks, who passed away this month, aged 81, as reported by BBC Sport.
