Aston Villa will host Swansea City in the FA Cup at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon, however, they will be without a number of key players for the game, according to the club’s official website.
Tammy Abraham will be Dean Smith’s biggest absentee as he will not be able to feature for the Villans.
The on-loan Chelsea forward has a clause in his current Villa deal that restricts him from playing in cup competitions.
Abraham, who once played for the Swans, was the difference between the two teams in their Championship encounter back in October in Smith’s first game in charge.
Villa will also be without the likes of Jack Grealish and Axel Tuanzebe, with both unlikely to feature for the club in January.
However, Smith has had some good news heading into the FA Cup encounter with their Championship counterparts.
Lovre Kalinic could be in line to make his debut for the Villans as his move January switch has been made official.
The Croatia international’s arrival comes at a crucial time for the Midlands side following Orjan Nyland’s season-ending injury.
Neil Taylor and Henri Lansbury are expected to feature in the Villa matchday squad as they both make their returns from injury.
Smith will likely look to use the game as a way to for his Aston Villa side to return to winning ways.
The Villans have drawn their last two matches as they look for promotion to the Premier League and return to Championship action next weekend when they travel to Wigan Athletic.
