Aston Villa are due to play in a Football League Cup third round fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday night.
The match outcome will be hard to predict considering that both clubs play in the Premier League.
Both sides will be fancying their chances to win the game, while the teams will also be expected to make changes to their starting XIs and give a few fringe players an opportunity.
Villa will be expected to make a number of changes to their side. Considering that Premier League survival for this season will be their main priority, losing this game will actually not be the biggest blow for Dean Smith’s side. Nevertheless, they will play to win.
One can expect a change in goal with Jed Steer set to be the designated cup goalkeeper for this season, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Other players who could be set to start during the game, according to the report are Ahmed Elmohamady, Ezri Konsa, Kortney Hause, Matt Targett, Douglas Luiz, Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane, Jota and Anwar El Ghazi.
Keinan Davis could also be set to start the game up front for Villa.
The striker, who is currently below Wesley in Smith’s pecking order, will be aiming to use the Carabao Cup as a platform to build his confidence and score goals.
If he does well, it may just convince Smith to give him more opportunities in the Premier League.
Jonathan Kodjia is not expected to play and this means that Davis could well end up playing the full 90 minutes for Villa.
