Aston Villa play against Brentford in the Championship on Wednesday night at Griffin Park and will be looking for three points to get their promotion hopes back on track.
While the 18th placed Bees are 11 points above the relegation zone, they have not been impressive this season.
This game presents Villa with a good opportunity to get a much-needed win as they look to strengthen their promotion push.
However, Dean Smith’s side will be playing away from home and will have an imposing Griffin Park atmosphere to deal with.
Brentford have also been the better side during their past six games in all competitions. Thomas Frank’s side have managed to win four out of their past six games in all competitions.
During that same period, Villa have won just once. That victory came during their 2-1 victory against Ipswich Town in late January.
The game will see Smith returning to Griffin Park for the first time since he left Brentford last October in order to succeed Steve Bruce at the Midlands club.
Villa have a number of injuries to deal with. Jack Grealish (shin), James Chester (swollen knee), Axel Tuanzebe (metatarsal), Henri Lansbury (hamstring) and Tom Carroll (unspecified strain) are all set to miss the game, as reported by Birmingham Mail.
Villa have no suspensions to deal with but John McGinn is close to earning one as he is on nine yellow cards for this season.
Since Villa were demoted to the Championship in 2016, Brentford have yet to taste defeat in five league meetings with them as reported by BBC Sport. Smith was in charge of the Bees during all five of those games.
