Aston Villa midfielder Callum O’Hare is set to join Doncaster Rovers on loan, according to Football Insider.
Dean Smith rates the Villans youngster highly, however his chances of breaking into the Premier League side are slim so a move away would be best for his development.
O’Hare is considered to have a future at Villa Park, given his high standing within the club, but a loan move would give him the opportunity to secure regular first team football.
If the 21-year-old was to stay put with the Villains it would be detrimental to his development, as he would be struggle to hold down even a bit-part role.
O’Hare has made nine senior appearances for Villa after making his breakthrough from the club’s academy system, before securing a loan move to Carlisle in January of last season.
The youngster made a good impression on the League Two outfit, scoring three goals and producing three assists in his 16 appearances.
O’Hare, an England Under 20 international, has attracted interest across both the third and fourth tier due to his performances for Carlisle last season.
The news that Villa will allow the young midfielder to leave on a loan deal has alerted a number of clubs outside the Championship, where the transfer window is still open until Monday 2nd September.
Doncaster, who secured promotion to League One last season, look to have won the race to sign O’Hare though, with reports suggesting a deal could be announced as early as this week.
Villa have been incredibly busy during the summer, as Smith brought in a number of new signings to help bolster the squad for their return to the Premier League.
While that has improved their first team, it has also pushed players like O’Hare towards the exit door, and he will be out to prove that his future does not lie away from Villa Park in his latest loan move.
