Aston Villa loanee Tammy Abraham has indicated that he wants to return to parent club Chelsea this summer.
The youngster spent the season on loan with the Villians in the Championship. He played a key role in helping Villa to win promotion to the Premier League this term as he went on to bag 26 goals and record three assists from 40 appearances.
There is no doubt that the Midlands club will be wanting Abraham to stay. He was one of their best performers this season and has also shown that he has what it takes to succeed in the top-flight next season. Should he end up leaving, the club will have to look for a new striker, ideally one who is already a proven performer in the Premier League to help lead their line.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will opt to re-integrate Abraham into their first-team plans. There definitely is a chance that that could happen.
The Blues are set to face a two window transfer ban. In terms of strikers for next season, Olivier Giroud looks set to stay at the club for one more season while the future of Gonzalo Higuain is uncertain. The Argentine arrived at Stamford Bridge in January but has not exactly been impressive. It is uncertain whether he will be retained for next season.
Abraham has shown signs of being a top player and the Blues would be foolish if they were to sell him. It does remain to be seen though whether they will include him in their first-team plans.
“It is about believing in myself and to just keep doing what I do,” said Abraham as recorded by The Guardian.
I am still young and I am still improving. The aim is to be at the highest level and playing the best football, and if Chelsea say they need me there I will put my 100% in.
“I am person who believes in myself. So wherever I am at I believe that I will get in and play and score goals.
“You can never say never.”
