Aston Villa are keen to sign Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, according to a report published by The Daily Mail.
The 27-year-old is a product of the Cottagers youth development system and has been on the books of the club since starting his professional career in 2010.
The reported Villa target played a starring role for his club during the 2017-18 season as they managed to win promotion to the Premier League.
Bettinelli largely played second fiddle to Fabricio and Sergio Rico last season as the Cottagers were relegated from the top-flight but did show that he is capable of playing at the highest level during the several Premier League games which he played in.
Bettinelli even earned himself a shock call-up to the England squad in September 2018.
With Rico and Fabricio having left Craven Cottage, Bettinelli is expected to start the new season as Fulham’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Villa however are keen on adding s new goalkeeper to their ranks with their aims to sign other stoppers looking uncertain.
Dean Smith’s side are looking to add a new custodian to their side ahead of the new season especially as Jed Steer is untested at the highest level.
For Bettinelli, the potential allure of playing regularly in the Premier League for Villa would surely have him interested in a move to the Midlands.
