Aston Villa saw off former boss Steve Bruce and his Newcastle United side on Monday night, and after the match their fans were full of praise for another masterclass of a display by captain Jack Grealish.

Villans boss Dean Smith decided to recall his talisman, who missed recent matches due to injury, and he was rewarded with another outstanding performance from the man who is so key to their chances of remaining in the Premier League this term.

Grealish played in an attacking role for Villa, one which enabled him to control the pace of the game, and deliver some of the quality which has so many judges pleading with Gareth Southgate to call him into the England squad.

Although the Villans superstar didn’t get on the scoresheet, he did everything in the match but that, oozing class wherever he had the ball, without shirking any of his defensive responsibilities, while constantly being fouled in a display in which we saw the best of him.

Grealish delivered six key passes on the night, among the 68 he completed over the course of the 90 minutes according to Who Scored, statistics that both of which were bettered by nobody else on the pitch, highlighting how much the Villa fan ran the show on his home patch.

It might well be that the Villans ace has even more to come having been out for the best part of a month prior to the clash with his former boss, and if that is the case he is in position to take the Premier League by storm over the remainder of the campaign.

That was a fact and opinion not lost on any Villa fan, many of whom took to Twitter after the final whistle to wax lyrical about their standout performer on the night.
